Lagrange Point brings together the practices of Amina Hocine and Majse Vilstrup in an exhibition exploring the relationship between seeing and listening, observation and participation.

At the centre of the exhibition is a recurring scene: Amina at her self built organ, Majse behind the camera. What initially appears to be a portrait gradually becomes something more vulnerable, a situation in which two people observe, respond to and become attentive to one another. Through sound, drawing and sculpture, the exhibition explores what happens when looking and listening become reciprocal acts.

The works unfold slowly. Drawings are activated by sound, while sound also exists as a work in its own right. Image and sound do not illustrate one another, but occupy a shared space, creating shifting points of attention. Rather than offering a fixed narrative, the exhibition leaves room for perception to develop over time. Meaning emerges through proximity, repetition, listening and response.

The title Lagrange Point refers to a position in space where two bodies can remain in relation to one another, held in a delicate equilibrium. Here, this becomes a metaphor for the space between two people, between looking and being looked at, between listening and being heard.

Their collaboration is built around a shared investigation of attention. In a cultural landscape shaped by visibility, self expression and the constant production of meaning, Lagrange Point considers what it might mean to make room for another person, for uncertainty and for the things and motifs that can only emerge through sustained attention.

  • → Amina Hocine is a composer and sound artist based in Stockholm. She holds a Master’s degree in electroacoustic composition from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and works across composition, sound sculpture and self-built instruments. Her practice explores sound as a spatial and embodied phenomenon, with a particular interest in deep listening, resonance and the relationship between sound and architecture. Recent works include TORNMUSIK – for sculpture, presented at the Swedish Institute in Paris, alongside acousmatic and notated compositions presented across Europe. For this exhibition, Amina has created a suspended sound sculpture positioned in the centre of the room, with individual pipes directed towards Majse’s drawings, creating a sonic relationship between the sculpture and the images.

→ Majse Vilstrup is a filmmaker and visual artist based in Copenhagen, working across film, drawing, and installation. Her work departs from a curiosity in ‘the social being’ and the subtle dynamics that emerge when we encounter one another - how we subconsciously ignite, mirror and negotiate our ways of interacting. She has studied at Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and Malmö Art Academy and holds a Master’s degree from the MFA programme in Film at HDK-Valand. Alongside her drawing practice, Majse is currently in late production with her coming feature debut DIRECT ME! (supported by the Danish Film Institute). For this exhibition, Majse has made two wide drawings shaped as a window frame. The drawings are made using an evolved technique of working with dry pastels on velour paper.
